Short grips [with magwell]

There are two types of grips: long and short. The only difference between them is that short grips are intended for pistols equipped with a magwell, while long grips are for pistols without a magwell (short grips are shorter by the height of the magwell). Don’t look for any other differences.
If you’ve recently purchased a new CZ pistol, it comes without a magwell by default. The notable exception is the CZ TS 2, which often ships with a factory magwell. This magwell can be removed if desired.
If you plan to use your pistol with a magwell, you’re in the right category – choose short grips.
If you won’t use a magwell, browse the long grips section.

Pros and cons of using a magwell

Before choosing grips, consider what installing a magwell does to your pistol:
  • Increased weight: A magwell adds metal mass. In competition, the extra weight at the rear helps with recoil control and stability; for daily carry, many prefer the lightest setup possible.
  • Improved reload speed: A magwell enlarges and funnels the magazine well opening, making reloads faster and more forgiving.
Your decision should match the primary purpose of your firearm.

Important: Short grips don’t mean “compact”

We sometimes see shooters seek short grips for Compact CZ models (e.g., CZ P-01, CZ 75 Compact, CZ Shadow 2 Compact) even when they don’t plan to run a magwell. The assumption “compact pistol = short grip” is incorrect.
For models like CZ P-01 and CZ 75 Compact, we offer both long and short grips — your choice depends solely on whether you will use a magwell.
Note for CZ Shadow 2 Compact: currently, only long grips are available for this model.

Compatibility of short grips

CZ pistols with replaceable short grips follow the same size families as long grips, but short grips are used only when a magwell is installed:
  • Full-size CZ models (with magwell)
  • Compact CZ models (with magwell; availability varies per model)

By material

Each material changes weight, feel, and durability:

Aluminum

Pros: Lightweight; many textures, colors, finishes.
Cons: More prone to scratching; less recoil absorption.
Recommended for: Lighter competition builds, EDC/defense.

Polymer

Pros: Light, corrosion/impact resistant, low maintenance, budget-friendly.
Cons: Less “premium” appearance.
Recommended for: EDC/defense, beginners, training.

Brass

Pros: Heavy and stable; improves balance and feedback; visually striking.
Cons: Heavier; more expensive.
Recommended for: Competition where control and precision are key.

By size

A standard thickness suits most shooters. If it doesn’t feel right, adjust profile for fit and control:
  • 3D / wider profile: More hand contact, better recoil control; popular with competitors.
  • Slim profile: Easier trigger reach and smaller overall girth; good for smaller hands.
Many brands offer slim, standard, and thick variants so you can dial in your ideal feel.
